Andrew Gower's Upcoming MMO Brighter Shores Delayed by One Day Due to U.S. Election
Brighter Shores, the highly anticipated MMO from RuneScape creator Andrew Gower, has been delayed by one day, with its Early Access release now set for November 6 instead of the originally scheduled November 5. Gower made the decision to shift the release date to avoid clashing with the 2024 United States presidential election, humorously referring to it as "some sort of election thingy." Gower, renowned for his work on RuneScape, one of the longest-running MMOs still active today, is returning to the MMO space with Brighter Shores.
While RuneScape continues to thrive with an active community, Gower has been focused on this new project under his studio, Fen Research, founded in the years after his departure from RuneScape in 2011. He has been sharing updates on Brighter Shores via social media, teasing a new engine and offering insights into the game’s development.
First announced in March, Brighter Shores features a nostalgic art style reminiscent of RuneScape, with familiar gameplay elements like cooking, mining, and woodcutting, appealing to fans of Gower's earlier work. Despite the brief delay, fans won’t have long to wait to experience the game, which is poised to become one of the standout Early Access titles on Steam.
As the countdown to the release continues, it's a perfect time for players to revisit RuneScape, which remains a beloved free-to-play MMO with regular content updates. Whether Brighter Shores can capture the same enduring legacy as RuneScape will be revealed soon.
